Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and there is still time to do something special for your colleagues and clients! While it is traditionally a day to celebrate romance, Valentine’s Day has come to represent showing appreciation for all meaningful relationships (and an excuse to enjoy some festive treats and fun). Here are five lovely ways to celebrate with everyone at work:
1. Sweet Treats
Valentine’s Day and sweet treats go hand in hand. Spend today by treating yourself and others in your workspace! Instead of just handing out candy, take things a step further by creating an opportunity for people to mingle and connect. Grab a bunch of festive candies and chocolates to make an easy DIY candy bar. Lay out all the options like a buffet and allow everyone to create a custom blend. People will get the sugar rush they love on Valentine’s Day while still participating in a fun and engaging activity with others.
2. Share Appreciation
Share the loving spirit with employees! Send a note with what you love about working with each person on your team. You can handwrite notes like in elementary school and have everyone put a little box on their desk. Or, keep things digital by creating a #lovenotes chat channel for people to share what they love about working with each other! For clients, send them a small gift card along with a digital note about why you love working with them. Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to get in the habit of routine recognition for everyone important in your work life!
3. A Casual Themed Celebration
Who does not love an office party? For Valentine’s Day, there is no shortage of themed activities and food. If your group is more of a breakfast bunch, grab bagels (bonus points for pink strawberry cream cheese) and serve on festive plates. Restaurants are super busy on v-day, so if you prefer to celebrate with lunch, we recommend placing a catering order in the morning. Everyone will have plans to get to in the evening, so if breakfast or lunch is not your style, think about creating something like an afternoon hot cocoa bar where people can fix up their own special drinks.
4. Do Not Forget Wellness
February is all about seeing red- but not in the way you think. It is the color of heart health and love, representing Valentine’s Day and American Heart Month. This month is a time when we should focus on everything the heart does, from being the symbol of love to cardiovascular health. Celebrate American Heart Month by emphasizing wellness. Make a positive diet change, such as swapping a sugary afternoon soda for sparkling water. Or, plan to go for a walk during a break to get some movement in. From signing up for a post-work workout class to packing a healthy lunch, vow to make a small swap this February to benefit your heart health.
5. The Gift of Time
Sometimes the best gift of all is the gift of time. Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest nights to go out to eat in the entire year. Give everyone a head start on their commute home by ending an hour early. Or, offer a late start the next morning so those with night-time plans can relax without any worries. While we hope everyone loves their coworkers, time recharging at home with loved ones is the best Valentine’s Day gift.
There is a lot to love about being part of a shared workspace. This Valentine’s Day, come see how being part of an AdvantEdge Workspaces community can help warm your heart.
