4 Wellness Tools Every Employee Needs

Did you know that June is National Employee Wellness Month? Nowadays, there are many tips and tricks for maintaining wellness in the workplace. “Wellness” can be a daunting term, and means something different for everybody. If you are not sure where to start, technology is your friend. Here are four tools that everyone needs to feel good at work!

1. Fitness Trackers

Fitness trackers are more than just steps. You can monitor heart rate, sleep, activity, and even have the device lead you in exercise. All movement is good movement, and fitness trackers help bring increased awareness of how much we get throughout the day. They can provide reminders to stand up and stretch, or be a motivator to take a call while going for a walk, instead of sitting. There are different trackers ranging from full-blown smartwatches to basic clip-ons with few additional features. Try it out for a month, and see if you notice a difference!

2. The Right Apps

From water intake to quality of sleep, whatever your wellness needs are, there is an app for it. At work, a majority of wellness conversations center around stress and mindfulness- for good reason, too. Download apps like Calm or Headspace for quick meditations, affirmations, and support. These apps can be worked into any schedule, whether you have one minute or ten. This June, try building a consistent practice- you may be surprised by the impact!

3. Movement Tools

By now, it is proved that staying sedentary for the majority of the day is detremental for humans. But with a desk job, that often seems unavoidable. Incorporate movement into your daily routine with a new desk! You can use a standing desk, walking pad, or even an exercise bike with a tray. Move as you make your way through tasks. At AdvantEdge Workspaces, all spaces are customizable, so you can swap out furniture and add movement solutions that work for you.

4. Integrations

Let your technology work for you by integrating all of the tools available. Sync your fitness tracker to your calendar to get pop-up notifications about movement. Create time blocks for wellness. Set up focus hours and mute notifications to protect your peace during certain times of the day. While technology has opened us up to always being available, we can combat that by setting better boundaries.
